Free re-usable period products scheme
This scheme applies to South Cambridgeshire residents only.
200,000 tonnes of disposable period products are landfilled in the UK every year. In addition, 2 billion period products are incorrectly flushed down the toilet, causing blockages and water pollution.
We're delighted to offer South Cambridgeshire residents a free re-usable period product pack by post. You can choose either washable pads (5 pads), period pants (3 pairs) or a period cup (including sterilising pot).
You can apply for free reusable period products through Hey Girls using the link below. The scheme will run on a ‘first come, first served’ basis while stocks last.
Discounted Mooncup for £5
This scheme is for both South Cambridgeshire and Cambridge City residents.
Mooncup is a reusable silicone alternative to tampons. It’s a healthy and convenient way to reduce waste from disposable period products. You only need one Mooncup, and it can be re-used for up to 10 years.
You can buy a Mooncup for just £5, instead of the usual cost of £23.50. We can offer this discount as a member of the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Waste Partnership (Recap).
We hope to support 1300 people to switch to a reusable period product. This would prevent the disposal of about 343,000 single-use menstrual items each year.
