We aim to collect all bins on schedule, however occasionally we do miss some.
Before you attempt to report a missed bin collection, please check our bin service announcement page to see if we have not been able to visit your street for any reason and if we are already planning to return to empty your bin.
If you are not sure when your bin should be emptied, please check our online calendar.
If we left a card, we will empty your bin on your next scheduled collection if you have fixed the problem.
If we did not leave a card, report the missed collection and leave the bin out. We will return to empty your bin if all of the following criteria have been met:
- the bin or sack was placed out by 6am on the day of collection
- access to the bin was clear (for example, in the case of assisted collections, the gate was unlocked)
- the bin was correctly used. The crew will have issued an advice card to you if there was a problem. Find out what goes in which bin.
- there is no issue recorded by the collection crew, for example, contamination, bin too heavy or too full, excessive waste and bin was frozen. To prevent this please visit our bin hygiene page.
Reporting a missed bin collection
You can only report a missed bin collection from 3:30pm on the day of collection.
We might be running late or emptying bins in a different order to normal. You then have until 3:30pm the next weekday (Monday to Friday) to report your missed bin collection to us.
We will return to collect missed bins within 3 working days after the scheduled collection. However, if we have available resources we will try to collect it sooner, so please make sure you leave your bin out.
If your missed bin does not get reported within this time frame, unfortunately we would not have crews in the areas until the next scheduled collection.
