If you live in a block of flats, you will be sharing bins which could be in a bin store or outside bin area.
Please put your waste into the correct shared bins, please read our what goes in what bin page for further guidance. Please note not all flats have green bins – in this case please put garden and food waste into the black bins. In 2026 we will be introducing a new service for weekly food waste collections, please see our food waste and bins section for more information.
Batteries should not be put in the bin as they can cause fires. Please dispose of batteries at your local supermarket in a designated battery bin.
If you have bulky or additional waste, please do not leave items outside of the allocated bins as this will be classed as fly-tipping and will not be collected. Instead, you can:
- find a local household recycling center (tip) to dispose of any rubbish or recycling
- request a bulky waste collection
Your bin collections
Bins are emptied on an alternate weekly collection, one week the general rubbish is emptied, the next week the blue recycling (and green if applicable) bins will be emptied.
Report a missed bin
If your bins have been missed, please report it via the online form and we will arrange a recollection. Please report it by the next day so our crews can get back to the property as soon as possible.
If the bins were missed for a reason, you will need to contact your managing agent or Housing officer. They can arrange the clearance themselves, or pay the council to arrange a recollection.
Reasons for bins being missed could be:
- contaminated recycling bins
- overloaded bins
- excess waste on the ground preventing access to the bins.
When we receive your missed bin form, we will let you know if there was a reason for the missed bins, so you can report it to your managing agent. If they were a genuine miss, we will recollect the bins as soon as possible.
