If you have more recycling than will fit in your bin, you can leave it next to your blue bin on collection day.
Do not leave cardboard out in the rain, as wet card sticks to other materials and makes it harder to recycle.
We will collect:
- one transparent sack of recycling
- one bundle of cardboard, taped or tied together
We will not collect:
- black or coloured sacks
- more than one sack or bundle of cardboard
- glass that has been placed in a sack - for safety reasons glass should always go in your blue bin.
Both the sack and the bundle of cardboard should be able to fit in the bin with the lid closed if there was space.
If there are delays on collection day, we will prioritise emptying a bin at each property over collecting extra recycling, so in some cases we may not be able to collect extra recycling. Delays can be caused by vehicle breakdown, roadworks, or a high volume of recycling on the day.
If you often have extra recycling, you can request an extra blue bin.
The household duty of care is set out in the Environmental Protection Act 1990 Section 34 (2A) and Section 5 of the Waste Duty of Care: Code of Practice.
Please note that failure to comply with our requirements for setting out waste and recycling for collection could result in a fixed penalty.
